Yoga Therapy can be beneficial even if you are not experiencing pain or illness.
Discover what a Yoga Therapy Session is like.
As part of your initial Yoga Therapy session, we will ask for intake forms to gather information about your current health, lifestyle habits, personal history, and outlook to understand your goals—next, a few assessments through a Yogic lens to customize a program further to fit your needs. Then, we will work on a practice together involving various Yogic techniques such as Asanas (postures), Pranayama (breathing exercises), Meditation (mindfulness), and Philosophy. A personalized Yoga Therapy care plan will be tailored to your specific needs. You will leave a plan of care to implement at home. You do not need to practice Yoga or have previous yoga experience to schedule a Yoga Therapy session.
Scope of Practice
As a Yoga Therapist, my scope of practice includes assessing my clients' physical, mental, and emotional needs and collaborating with them to create a plan that integrates personalized yoga practices to address those needs. The plan of care may include Asana (postures), Pranayama (breathing techniques), Meditation, and other Yoga-based practices. I also provide education on lifestyle changes through Yoga to empower clients to reach their goals and live fulfilling lives.
The Yoga Therapist's Role
As a Yoga Therapist, I focus solely on Yoga based practices in your plan of care. I am not a licensed healthcare provider and cannot diagnose or treat medical conditions. However, I am trained to work with clients with various health concerns, from chronic pain to anxiety, depression, and stress. It is recommended that you continue to work with your current healthcare provider(s) while pursuing Yoga Therapy as a complementary approach to traditional healthcare offerings. I will work with you to develop a Yoga practice that complements your existing medical team and provides complementary care.
The Client's Role
As the client, your undertaking is to be an active participant in the process. Taking part means attending sessions regularly, practicing Yoga on your own, and communicating with me about any changes or concerns you may have. Following the home plan of care is crucial for optimal results during our sessions. If you encounter any issues, please inform me so we can work together to find a better solution. Together, we can create something truly for you!
Referrals
If, at any point during the process, another healthcare professional is better suited to address your specific needs, I will refer you to the appropriate provider. Referrals may include a physician, physical therapist, mental health professional, or other dedicated healthcare colleagues.
